Gladys Faye Holford, daughter of the late Edward Graham and Maggie Irene Back Graham Welch, was born in Bernie on Dec. 3, 1934, and died at the Crowley Ridge Care Center in Dexter on Aug. 3, 2015, at the age of 80. She had lived in Bloomfield since 1954. She was a member of the Link Church near Bloomfield and she loved to cook, sing, go to yard sales and collect angels...

Statesman on vacation

Andy and Kim Livingston, of Dexter, went to the Indy Speedway for vacation. They remembered to bring The Daily Statesman, even though Andy forgot his shirt. They will receive a free month's subscription to The Daily Statesman as a result.

Stoddard County Aug. 4, 2015 Ricky House, 33, of Bloomfield, was arrested on a warrant for possession of a controlled substance. Bond was set at $7,500 cash only. He remains in jail at this time. Rose Murphy, 30, of Malden, was arrested on a probation warrant for failure to obey a judge's orders. There is no bond, and she remains in jail at this time...

Future first grader, Landen McClain, receives a school packet from his new principal, Jacinda DeWitt, during school registration Tuesday. With Landen are his preschool sister, Madison, and his mother, Elizabeth McClain. All Dexter students were expected to register Tuesday at the Bearcat Event Center, where bus arrangements were made and school photos were also taken. DHS football team lends a helping hand

Bearcat football players spent early Tuesday helping to lay the groundwork at East City Park in Dexter for the arrival of The Moving Wall, the Vietnam memorial half-scale replica that will be in town this week.
