Dexter Statesman sports editor Kyle Smith passes away

The Dexter Statesman is shocked and saddened by the sudden death of our long time sports editor Kyle Smith while on assignment in Springfield. According to authorities he passed away peacefully in his sleep.

With his talents in photography and the written word, Kyle provided outstanding sports coverage to Stoddard County. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. A tribute story to Kyle will appear in Wednesday's Dexter Statesman. An obituary will be released when it is received by the Dexter Statesman. Our thoughts and prayers are with Kyle's family and friends during this difficult time.
