NOAA Weather Radio tower in Bloomfield not operational

Saturday, April 30, 2022

Stoddard County Emergency Management Director, Andrew Bohnert, said the NOAA Weather Radio tower in Bloomfield is not operational.

"In the event of a Tornado Warning, Severe Thunderstorm Warning, or Flash Flood Warning your weather radio may not go off," said Bohnert. "This is why we encourage everyone to have multiple ways of receiving weather alert notifications in case one system fails."

Bohnert said this evening potentially severe weather is coming in and to ensure you have multiple ways of receiving alerts.

He offered the following options:

- Sign up for free, Stoddard County specific text alerts by texting 'STODDARDEMA' to 888-777.

- Ensure your cell phone is fully charged and the settings are enabled to receive Wireless Emergency Alerts.

- Stay tuned to social media, TV, and radio.
