Three reported dead in incident on Highway AA

Multiple law enforcement have responded to a report of shots fired on Highway AA, where three people have been confirmed dead.

Daily American Republic staff are on scene in the 1700 section of Highway AA where three people have died.

This is an evolving situation and limited information is available but Sheriff Mark Dobbs has confirmed there was an officer-involved shooting.

A deputy or deputies responded initially to a report of multiple shots fired after 1 p.m. Thursday. Law enforcement was confronted by an armed suspect upon arrival, Dobbs said.

Law enforcement is not currently looking for a suspect but has not released information on the status of the armed suspect.

Assistance has been called in from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Stoddard County law enforcement, Poplar Bluff police and other agencies.

Poplar Bluff officers are assisting Butler County deputies with routine calls at this time, according to information from the scene.
